Primitive Racing Rally School
(March 2005)
A typical, soggy day in the Pacific NorthWest, after a winter full of sun!
Still, we had a good turnout with a wide variety of cars both road and rally-prepped, and a handful of pickups too.
A classic Impreza taking on the slalom.
Go wagons!
Hey, where'd that Lancer come from - didn't anyone tell that guy this event was for Scoobys only?
Oh okay, he can play in the mud with us.
Yes, you can too...
... and you. :)
The two-wheel drives were having some issues with the slick conditions but Shadd never misses an excuse to get sideways and ably demonstrates the origins of 'Fling Pu' Racing.
(This is nothing compared to his later efforts however - a Subaru awning and two pristine officials in one muddy shot!)
It's got GREAT BIG POINTY TEETH!!!
Run away! Run away!!! :)
Yes Rick, we know you can go sideways too. :)
That car looks awfully clean though - are you sure you've been playing in the same field as everyone else?
By lunchtime it was clearly turning into a dirtiest car competition.
Full marks for effort but dark paintwork and tinted windows hide the dirt a bit too well.
Now that's better...
... and this guy has obviously been enjoying himself! :)
But even he only got dirt on the outside.
Scott, I tip my hat to your superior mud-collecting skills sir!
And here's the man who was crazy enough to try and make it all happen, Paul Eklund.
Of course Paul couldn't have put this together without the help and support of his trusty instructors...
Driving: Jamie "Subiegal" Thomas, Gary Cavett, Todd Lengacher, Andy Howe, Tim Werner and Janice Damitio
Co-driving: Kala Rounds, Ben Bradley, Scott Huhn, John Elkin and Rich Olmstead
... and his Cone-deployment Technicians: Richard Buckner, Barrett Dash, Ian Mitchell, Jeff Price, Steve Greer and ORG's Scott Kovalik and more
If I missed anyone (and I'm sure I did), I apologize - I'm pulling this straight from a pre-event email of Paul's.
For me, seeing the students have so much fun and meeting the great and the good (and in many cases, the goofy) of NorthWest rallying made it all worthwhile. I'll see y'all at Oregon Trail! :)
This school was brought to you by Primitive Racing ...
... and the NorthWestern branch of Yumpaholics Anonymous (including but not limited to the Oregon Rally Group).
Oh and a rather odd-looking fellow with a cone on his head. :)
